Tackwood MOT & Services began in 1971 when it was founded by David Woodward as a family-run transport business, built on hard work, reliability, and a commitment to serving the local community.

In 1986, Dionne joined the business as the second generation, learning the values and foundations that continue to shape everything we do today. When David retired in 1998, Dionne took over the business with a clear vision — to build on his legacy while creating her own path and evolving the company into something new for the future.

Over time, Dionne made the decision to transition the business from transport into a full-service vehicle workshop. This allowed us to combine transport knowledge with hands-on mechanical expertise, creating a modern garage that could better serve our customers’ changing needs.

In 2004, Angelo joined the business as a technician, later becoming Dionne’s husband and co-owner. Angelo’s strength within the workshop and Dionne’s focus on business development created a strong partnership that has helped Tackwood grow, adapt, and move forward through every stage of its journey.

Today, we are proud to be a true family business in every sense. Our two sons, Dominic and Robbie, have now joined the company as the third generation, bringing fresh energy, ambition, and ideas while continuing to uphold the values the business was built on.

What has always driven us is not just running a business, but building a legacy. A place where customers are looked after properly, relationships matter, and quality always comes first. That mindset has helped us grow into one of the most trusted and highest-rated service centres in the area.
